I sat at the feet of Jesus and asked Him to guide me.
I've not done that since what I thought were His plans turned out to not be His plans.
I've not asked or wanted His guidance since my faith in Him died this summer.
Yet there I sat, alone in my living room next to a fat little Christmas tree. Sitting there asking for His guidance was dreadfully uncomfortable. It was awkward; it was scary and it was painful. To say I wanted to be doing this would not be accurate, but I was desperate. I was drowning, and I could no longer breathe.
So I hesitantly uttered words that I've not prayed since before this season of despair set its claws deep in my heart.
"Show me the way I should go; for to You I lift up my soul."
-psalm 143:8
And God responded...
"Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?" Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, "who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it? No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commands, decrees, and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed..."
- Deuteronomy 30:11-18
Love.
That is my answer. Love God and walk in His ways. That is what I do with my life. I devote all of it to Him. The what, where, and when are not nearly so important as the who.
Deep down I still struggle to not believe lies about what happened in the heavenlies this summer. I have struggled so much with Truth and how I know Truth really is the truth. I have been afraid to ask Him to lead me.
Yet God in His perfect love gave me an answer in black and white. His answer is a display of pure grace and His unending faithfulness. I have been caught in so many lies and I have not been pleasing Him with my attitude or my actions. Yet when I buckled under pressure and cried out He answered.
I am sure I still have more to learn from Him in this season, but for today He has given me grace to know and believe...

When you are faithless, He remains faithful
and
when you call on the Lord in your distress, He answers you.
2 Timothy 2:13 & Psalm 120:1
Keep calling out to Him, child of God.
Cry out and then cry out again.
